A little further up the road fromΒ Vindolanda Roman FortΒ is The National Trust and English Heritage property Hadrian’s Wall and Housteads Fort.

We wanted to go here to see a part of Hadrian’s Wall, and as we are members of both  we thought “why not”? But Sometimes with a baby I forget you can’t be go-go-go all the time.

Its a half mile walk from the car park to the fort so my husband took the older children while I stayed in the car to feed and change the baby.

So after all that travelling I didn’t even get to see it! But I am glad that the children did.

They sent me some pictures of them sitting on the wall, and here is what they had to say about it:

“It was fun to climb along the wall” – Isabel, Age 11

“It was really interesting. A really good part was climbing the big hill and running back down it. It was good fun” – George, Age 10

“5/10” – Oliver, Age 8

So maybe we didn’t have to drive so far for the children to see the wall!
